History

McGarr Service Corp. is a Boston-based building service contractor company that has been in the maintenance cleaning contract business for thirty-five years and the unarmed security guard business for the past twenty-one years. We have vast experience in cleaning and securing all types of facilities including healthcare, office buildings, apartment buildings, educational facilities, research laboratories and retail.

The company was founded in 1974 by CEO Kevin McGarr. Kevin’s daughter Kelly joined McGarr Service in 1995. Kelly has worked herself up though the ranks and recently assumed the position of President of McGarr Service Corp. The company has grown to its present size through high quality control and excellent customer satisfaction in all of its cleaning and security accounts.

The company takes a progressive and innovative approach to fulfilling the cleaning and security guard needs of all of its clients. Using this philosophy we have been able to retain some of our customers for as long as thirty-five years, expanding the services we offer as the client’s business grows.

For example, McGarr Service Corp. retained the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world renowned Boston based cancer treatment and research hospital, as a client since 1974 and has written a complete housekeeping program for them. This program is in direct compliance with the State Hospital Accreditation Committee and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

McGarr Service does not use a cookie cutter approach to fulfill its client’s needs. Specialization and adaptability have made us successful, enabling us to offer our clients customized service options that provide the best service for both their cleaning and security guard needs.

McGarr Service Corp. presently cleans in excess of four million square feet on a nightly basis. We also provide security guard services for dozens of facilities on an everyday basis throughout the Boston and Eastern Massachusetts area. We presently employ approximately 400 people throughout our cleaning and security guard services.
